Established in 2007

 

The Hernando Youth Orchestra Inc. is a non-profit Florida Corporation formed in 2007 to provide a place for young musicians to play orchestral music together and give back to the community through public concert performances. There is no audition to play with us, just click on the registration button to join. Further, we encourage older seasoned musicians to participate and help mentor our less experienced students .

We have a small selection of instruments to loan children who want to learn to play and sometimes we are able to provide low cost instruction too. Inquire for details.

Since its inception, HYO has performed many concerts for the city of Brooksville, and atthe Hernando County’s Band Shell, the Blueberry festival, local nursing homes/assisted living facilities, the YMCA and annually for the Hernando Fine Arts Council “Art in the Park”. The orchestra has been featured in the Hernando Sun, the Tampa Bay Times and appeared on several television programs.

The orchestra is funded by grants, community organizations and the generosity of individual sponsors.
